Heading into the second day of competition at the 2023 EIWA Championships, defending champion Cornell leads in the team race with 82.5 points. Three teams are within a few points of each other behind the Big Red: Lehigh (68.5), Penn (67), and Columbia (66.5).

Seven Big Red wrestlers went unbeaten on Saturday to clinch spots in the semifinals, including 2022 EIWA champions Vito Arujau (133) and Yianni Diakomihalis (149). Top seeds Brett Ungar (125), Vince Cornella (141), Julian Ramirez (165), and Chris Foca (174) also earned their places in the semis, along with Jacob Cardenas (197).  Brendan Furman is alive in the consolation bracket for the Big Red at heavyweight. The Cornell squad piled up bonus points, with six pins, four technical falls, and two majors on the first day of competition.

Lehigh sends four through to the semifinal round, including top seeds Tate Samuelson (184) and Michael Beard (197) as well as multi-time EIWA champ Josh Humphreys (157). Heavyweight Nathan Taylor recorded a takedown in sudden victory to nab a dramatic win over Penn's Ben Goldin to join his teammates in the semis.

The Quakers also feature a strong presence in the semis, with six representatives, including 2022 titlewinner Michael Colaiocco at 133 and returning finalists Anthony Artalona (157) and Nick Incontrera (174). Previous conference placers Ryan Miller (125), Carmen Ferrante (141), and Doug Zapf (149) will join them. Ferrante topped #3 seed Josh Koderhandt to earn his slot.

Five Columbia wrestlers will compete in the semifinals, including returning EIWA runner up Josh Ogunsanya (165) and 2022 champ Matt Kazimir (141). Both Angelo Rini (133) and Danny Fongaro (149) defeated #3 seeds in the quarterfinals to move on in the championship bracket. Rini beat Bucknell's Kurt Phipps, while Fongaro topped Lehigh's Max Brignola. Lennox Wolak earned a victory over 2022 EIWA titlewinner Mickey O'Malley of Drexel to advance to the semis.

Eight conference wrestlers punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships with their victories in the quarterfinals: 125 pounders Brett Ungar of Cornell, Patrick Glory of Princeton, Ryan Miller of Penn, and Diego Sotelo of Harvard and heavyweights Yaraslau Slavikouski of Harvard, Grady Griess of Navy, Cory Day of Binghamton, and Nathan Taylor of Lehigh.
