MIKE BROWN, Lehigh ’80 is one of two Lehigh four-time All-Americans (NCAA 5,3,2,7) and one of ten four-time champions in EIWA history. His four wins vs. NCAA champions ranks second in school history. As a senior who never red-shirted, Mike won, 8-0, in December vs Clemson’s Noel Loban. Seeded #1 with a pinched nerve, Brown settled for 7th while the Tiger won Nationals. The same year, Mike beat Iowa’s Lou Banach, 10-3, before the Hawkeye finished NCAA 4,1,1 at Hwt. As a junior at NCAAs, Mike beat future Olympic Greco champion, Steve Fraser, 13-3, in the quarters then won 12-5 over 4-time All-American, Howard Harris, who’d win OW in 1980 with five straight falls at heavyweight. As a sophomore 3rd place finisher, Brown eliminated Fred Bohna, 13-3; in 1979 Bohna won NCAAs at hwt.
Mike was 95-12 for his career and earned bonus wins in 13 of 16 EIWA Championship bouts and 10 of 18 wins at Nationals. His 53-5 dual win/loss mark included a 9-2 record at heavyweight with six bonus wins.
